COVID-19 and Odyssey Families
Estamos USA do las targetas de credito para sobrevivir a esta pandemia, debido a nuestro estatus migratorio no recibimos ayuda del gobierno aun realizando los taxes por año.
“We are using credit cards to survive this pandemic, and due to our immigration status we do not receive help from the government even after doing taxes every year.”
We at Odyssey understand that the inconveniences COVID-19 brings for most of us manifest as insidious problems for our low-income families. The center sought Yale University’s Partnership for Early Education Research to understand how this pandemic has exacerbated our low-income families’ needs. An anonymous 5-10 minute survey was taken by 170 of our parents. These questions gauged needs, as well as the degree of the pandemic’s impact on those needs. While the majority of our families faced major financial setbacks from layoffs such as rent and food security, almost all had expressed interest in maintaining their child’s intellectual development. These parents need to be supported more than ever – for their sake, and for their child’s chances to fight their way out of poverty with academics.
